Eingedi Retreat, a 530Ha game farm in the Eastern Free state, with a hunting area of 420Ha, offers a variety of plains game for hunting, in varied terrain. The large plains are edged with mountainous and rocky ridges, making the hunt a challenging experience. Eingedi endeavors to create a family-friendly environment that offers good accommodation, with numerous soft adventure activities and experiences of all ages to enjoy. Please view our ‘Accommodation’ and ‘Experiences’ on our website. We offer one-day hunts and overnight stays. All hunts are accompanied by the owner, at a daily fee.

Hunting can be done on foot or by vehicle.

Accommodation Package for hunters during hunting season
2-star exclusive self-catering accommodation.
Suggest Buffalo Base and Rhino’s Rest, two semi-detached 4-sleeper units with 4 access doors from a common verandah, adjacent to the camping ablutions for extra bathroom facilities. 1 double and 2 single beds per chalet – 3 hunters per chalet.
Fountain of Joy next to Buffalo Base – can sleep another 2 hunters.
The units overlook the boma/fire-pit area and makes an ideal setting for evenings around the braai fire, sharing the day’s hunting stories.
Minimum 2 nights for 2 persons: R490.00 pppn Non-hunters: R390.00 pppn
Includes use of the boma and open fire-pit plus 1 wheelbarrow load of wood. Other accommodation options are available at website mid-season rates and exclude the use of the boma and firepit and complimentary load of wood.

Seasons and Dates
Our hunting season is from beginning of May to the end of August, and guests are welcome to make use of our hunting package for accommodation purposes (see details below). We hunt from Sundays to Fridays.

No hunting on Saturdays.
Suggest arrival on Saturday: Settle in and set in rifles. Start hunt early Sunday morning, depart Monday or later in the week. Or, arrive any time during the week and depart Saturday/Sunday. Hunting hours: 07:30 – 16:00.

Ammunition and firearms (preferably with a silencer)
The hunter is required to provide his own. Shooting range available for setting in of rifle before hunt – compulsory.
The hunter can use his own vehicle or Eingedi can provide (See hunting fee). Vehicle (preferably a 4×4).

Additional fees

Daily Hunting Fee:
R1 000 for max. 3 hunters and R300/extra hunter (Client supplies own vehicle)
R1 200 for max 3 hunters and R300/extra hunter (Eingedi supplies vehicle).
Includes refrigeration of carcasses for duration of stay.

Slaughter/Skinning Services:
Slaughter fee – R100 per carcass – Springbuck, Impala, Blesbuck
Slaughter fee – R200 per carcass – Hartebeest, Wildebeest, Ostrich.
Slaughter fee – R300 per carcass – Zebra & Eland.
Additional fee for slaughtering of trophy mounts.
We will ensure that proper care is taken of your carcass. 
Assisting with the skinning and slaughtering is not required, but always adds to the experience.

Hunting Rules – to be strictly adhered to:
Shooting range available for setting in of rifle before the hunt – compulsory.
Full price for wounded animal.
Search for wounded animal – R50/half-hour after first half hour (maximum 2 hours).
Strictly NO alcohol during hunt.

Money Matters:
A 50% deposit for accommodation, as well as a hunting deposit of R3 000.00, are required to confirm the booking.
The balance is payable on the day of departure by cash, card or eft – immediate payment.
No VAT is charged.
