LEGÔLA WILDLIFE ESTATE IS AN EXCLUSIVE PRIVATE GAME FARM SITUATED IN THE LIMPOPO PROVINCE.
The Estate, at the foothills of the acclaimed UNESCO Waterberg Biosphere, falls in the malaria-free area and is closer to Marken, about 70km from Ellisras/Lephalale. The perennial Palala River running through the estate has a variety of fish species and the occasional hippo sightings. There is a gravel landing strip of 920m for a fly-in. With only about 2,5 hours’ drive from Pretoria, this is the place for a perfect weekend break-away.
The Waterberg area of South Africa is described as one of the country’s best-kept secrets, and with good reason – offering vast, peaceful and beautiful scenery. The region is a fascinating destination with a rich cultural legacy and heritage coupled with a natural splendour that is particularly appealing to those in need of a place to unwind.
The Estate offers sightings of some of Africa’s most magnificent creatures like rhino, buffalo, leopard
and sable, with a 1,200-hectare conservation area and another 800-hectare, set aside specifically for the breeding of rare game species.

At Legôla Main Lodge the accommodation surrounds a large lawn, lapa and swimming pool area. Fine fabrics and exquisite finishes lend an African style to an interior where most rooms have a spacious en-suite bathroom. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning giving shelter from the hot African sun. The spacious bedrooms lead onto deep verandas that echo the ambience of an outdoor bush adventure.

Skelmwater Chalets
The thatched chalets at Skelmwater are designed to create a delicate mix of elegance and simplicity. The chalets are solar-powered with gas stoves and a braai facility. Each unit leads onto a veranda overlooking the bush that echoes the ambience of an outdoor bush adventure. No electricity and limited mobile phone reception ensure that our guests enjoy a peaceful stay appreciating the atmosphere that only the African bush can offer.

Rietvallei Corporate House is a modern, comfortable house with a beautiful African furnished interior. This Bushveld home is spacious with a large lounge area and flat-screen television with DSTV for extra comfort. A fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove will make your stay here truly comfortable. All rooms are equipped with airconditioning. Here you can enjoy endless peace and tranquiliy with beautiful views of the bushveld.

In addition to the larger animals, the birdlife is prolific. There are about 350 bird species found in the Waterberg region – almost 40% of Southern Africa’s list. In the Waterberg area, there are 75 mammal species, over 300 bird species, 84 species of trees and various fish species in the Palala River and surrounding dams.
Attractions in the area include various breeding programmes, like the white lion breeding project, crocodile farm, elephant-back riding, hiking, fishing, cycling, health hydro and spas and even a goat cheese farm. This area is also one of the most important San Rock Art areas in South Africa and presents history lovers with a host of archaeological wonders.
HUNTING
LEGÔLA PROVIDES A FAMILY-FRIENDLY HUNTING ENVIRONMENT, AND PROMOTES RESPONSIBLE HUNTING AND CONSERVATION.
Various field cameras are installed on the estate, monitoring wild life, activity and stock availibity.
We specialise in rifle and bowhunting. Two professional hunters (PHs) are available to ensure a pleasant hunting experience. Slaughter and cold room storage are available, and there is a 100m shooting range for calibration purposes.
