Mount Hope Private Game Reserve is situated in the magnificent Waterberg Mountain Range of Limpopo and is only a 2 hour drive from Pretoria.

Game is in abundance on the Reserve and we are fortunate to have a river that runs through the reserve. The Reserve has luxurious, fully catered accommodation for 22 people and some of the activities include Rifle hunting, Bow hunting, Quadbiking, Horse riding, Game Drives and many more.

The Waterberg District is the ideal getaway where the weary traveler can relax and revel in the great natural beauty of the bushveld savannah and its rich wildlife heritage. The Waterberg Mountains stretch along more than 5 000 km2 of spectacular vistas and scenic valleys – the ideal destination off the beaten tourism track.

The Waterberg is steeped in a history and some artifacts found here date back to Stone Age times. The area is a mosaic of culture and tradition as is reflected by the different rural tribes such as the Bapedi, Tswana and Basotho, while the Voortrekkers also left their distinctive mark on the area.

FOOD AND BEVERAGES:
All meals are prepared with an African flare offering an interesting variety of taste, flavors and aromas and promise to tingle your taste buds! Our chefs use only fresh ingredients in the preparation of your meals and present it in an innovative way. If you have any special dietary request, kindly advise us in advance and we’ll gladly make the necessary arrangements to accommodate your preferences. You will feast on a daily basis on wild African game that you have harvested.

HUNTING SEASON:
Our hunting season runs from 1st February until 30th November. Temperatures in winter (May to August) vary between 5°C (40° F) in the early morning to 20°C (68°F) during mid day. Autumn and Spring (February to April and September to November) varies between 15°C (59°F) to 30°C (86°F). We recommend a wide brimmed hat with a good sun block with a protection factor of at least 20.

Activities include Walking Trails, Game Drives, Bird Watching, Bow and Rifle Hunting.

Accommodation

Accommodation rate includes:

• 4 x 4 Vehicles to transport hunters from camps to hunting sites and hides
• Five fully fitted hides for bow hunters
• Basic slaughtering of game
• DSTV
• Accommodation in fully fitted chalets
• Meals are included in pricing for Catered Pricing model
• Alcohol and soft drinks excluded in pricing but included in Fully Catered Pricing
• Meat Handling facilities with cold room

All fully catered/ all-inclusive packages include all local alcoholic drinks and beverages and all game viewing drives.

Hunting Rules

• You will be transported to your hunting area on the farm by the professional hunter. No private vehicles will be allowed on the farm during hunting periods.
• Miss shots taken on Eland, Giraffe and all trophy animals will be charged at 50% of price list price. Head shots taken on any animal resulting in not finding any blood (in case of wounded animals) will be charged at full price.
• No alcohol will be allowed during any hunting session and please don’t litter in the veldt.
• You must always be accompanied by a guide during hunting sessions.
• No hunting will be allowed after sunset, only from daybreak to sunset.
• No hunting must be done close to fencing and border roads. Hunters will be responsible for game that breaks through fencing to adjacent farms.
• Please do not give alcohol to the guides, only cold drinks are allowed.
• Each hunter much ensures that he is absolutely clear on the specie, sex and size of the trophy of the animals. The guides can not be held responsible for any mistakes made in judgement by the hunter.
• No discount for under size animals will be given. The hunter pulls the trigger and is therefore responsible and not the guide. All wounded male animals will be charged at Trophy prices.
• The areas around the camps, stores, houses and game breeding camps are declared NO HUNTING ZONES. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES will hunting be allowed in these areas.
• The farm management has an arrangement with the guides to double any bribery money offered to them. It has achieved very good results in the past!
• Deposit is payable on making the reservation. If we do not receive a deposit the booking will be cancelled automatically. NO DEPOSIT is repayable for cancellations. You may send someone else to use your funds.
• Full account MUST be settled on the day of departure. No departure will be allowed without settlement of the outstanding account in full.
• All rifles MUST be made safe and magazines emptied before getting onto the hunting and game viewing vehicles and in an around the camp at all times.
• Firearms are only allowed on the shooting range around the camping area.
• Calibre smaller than .270 or 6mm is not permitted. Only 375 Calibre allowed for Eland Bulls.
• Mount Hope Private Game Reserve (Pty) Ltd will not accept any responsibility for theft, accidents, injuries or any costs arising from such events.
• It is standard procedure on the farm to wait for 5 minutes after a shot has been fired. Please do not give chase after a shot has been fired but take your time moving forward.
