Surrounded by 400-480 million year old rocks of the Table Mountain Group (part of The Cape Supergroup sandstones) at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains in the Klein-Karoo on the Barrydale-Brandrivier gravel road, Groot Phesantefontein Ranch offers a warm welcome as well as affordable but enchanting accommodation in the Cape Floral Kingdom just 40km from Riversdale and 40km from Barrydale on the R62. A game enclosure of 1300 hectares on the farm is stocked with a variety of species of antelope which are frequently seen in the Fynbos and Succulent Karoo biomes.

Accommodation

Choose one of the self-catering chalets with en-suite bathrooms (shower).
The Main House : 4 bedrooms of which 2 or on suite with 1 additional bathroom. Sleep 12 with build in braai, lounge, kitchen, dining room, entertainment area, outside braai and swimming pool.

The Kliphuis: 1 Queen-size bed and 1 bunk bed – sleep 4, outdoor BBQ
The Berghuis: 2 Bunk beds – sleep 4, indoor BBQ
The Watervalhuis: 2 Single bed – sleep 2, indoor BBQ
Full electricity in Klipwerf but rest of units with solar energy installed for lighting and charging of cell phones. The kitchens are supplied with a gas stove, gas fridge and utensils required for self-catering.
Children under 12 stay free.

The Lapa, with fully equipped kitchen, braai area and bar for those who wish to cater for themselves and conference facilities which will be able to accommodate 20 guests.

Activities

Hunting (bow and rifle hunting), Game-drives, Sundowner/Braai at Braai-place (if weather permits), Bird watching, Cycling, Photography, Adventure Walks and Star gazing.

Game Viewing is done in either closed vehicles or open safari vehicles in the private Game Reserve. Game viewing is one of the main attractions for guests and visitors and allows a unique experience to view and interact with the wildlife at close range.

Included in daily rates: Accommodation, bedding, towels, professional hunter, trackers, cold storage, one bundle of wood per day – additional firewood is available at R30/bag.

All rifles must be equipped with silencers.
